This was a great 4th of July Holiday. To celebrate this year we joined our stake for the Stake Temple Day. It was so wonderful to be back in the temple. Living in Charleston, we are located about 2 hours from the temple. I realize that for most members around the world, that doesn’t seem very far… Being from Utah, we are so used to always being at least 5-35 minutes away from about 6-8 temples at any given time. It is really easy to take that luxury for granted.
As soon as we moved out here I started to miss the temple just knowing we were now 2 hours away. We have lived out here for about 2 months now and feel so grateful to have the opportunity to make it to the temple.
The ride was long for Lincoln. We woke up and left our house really early so that we could make the session we signed up for. The stake organized a child watch for all the kids so we were able to drop Lincoln off right across the street from the temple and then go enjoy a session together. It was wonderful to be in the temple together again.
The ward has their scheduled temple trip set up for September, so we want to set up a day to come back before then and do more work in the temple.
After making it back home, we put Lincoln down for his afternoon nap and planned where we wanted to go for fireworks that evening. By the time we got in our car to go to the festival in North Charleston, a storm rolled in and everything got canceled… haha So instead, we drove around in the pouring rain (Charleston rain is pretty epic!), bought some ice cream from the grocery store and went back home to watch a movie together. Overall it was a wonderful day!
